Autumn Half Term at Lorton Meadows

Bluetit TERRY FISHERThis half term you can keep the whole family busy at Lorton Meadows, as Dorset Wildlife Trust is holding a host of events for autumn. There are activities to keep everyone entertained at the Weymouth nature reserve, from building a bird feeder to conservation tasks.

Sam Dallimore, People and Wildlife Officer at Dorset Wildlife Trust, said: “It’s a fantastic time of year to get out in the wild, so while the kids are off, why not get the whole family involved in wildlife for the week? They’ve seen it on BBC’s Autumnwatch, now let them see the real thing in Weymouth’s beautiful Lorton Valley.”

The events on this half term are:

Wednesday 27th October- Caterpillar Kids- Feed the birds 10am-2pm
Just for the kids this half term - make your own bird feeder to take home, join in games, art and craft with the People and Wildlife Officer and learn how to feed the garden birds this winter. £1.50 per child. No unaccompanied children, please.

Thursday 28th October- Young Peoples’ Conservation Task 10.30am- 3pm
For 12-16 Year olds to really make a difference for Dorset ­ a practical day of conservation work with Dorset Wildlife Trust. Tools, gloves and drinks supplied. Wear warm clothes and bring a packed lunch.

Fri 29th October- Caterpillar Kids- Beast, Bugs, and Slugs 10.30am-12.30pm
Discover the beasts, bugs and slimy slugs of Lorton Meadows! Will also include games, arts and crafts with the People and Wildlife Officer. £1.50 per child. No unaccompanied children, please.
