Stunning new paintings of marine wildlife are being unveiled at the flagship Purbeck Marine Wildlife Reserve at Kimmeridge Bay. Artist Johnathan Latimer has created four paintings of the underwater wildlife of the bay, especially for the new signs at the Dorset Wildlife Trust reserve. The signs have been sponsored by Dorset Coastal Cottages and their customers.
Julie Hatcher, Warden at the marine reserve, said: "We are very grateful to Dorset Coastal Cottages and their customers, who have made it possible for us to show off the amazing wildlife here to all our many visitors. Johnathan has captured the colours and textures and it just makes you want to get in the water with your snorkel."
The two signs at the reserve feature all four paintings, showing colourful anemones, pink coral weed and snakelocks anemones as well as fish, crabs, fan worms and starfish. All can be found in the marine reserve. Visitors can enjoy the marine life from the beach or by taking the 400m Snorkel Trail in the shallow waters of Kimmeridge Bay. A trail guide is available in the Marine Centre.
