Wild about Poole
Friday 12th August 2016
Over 1000 visitors of all ages went Wild about Poole with us at Baiter Park on Saturday 23rd July 2016.
The Great Heath’s annual roadshow-type event took place on the shores of Poole Harbour this year in partnership with Borough of Poole, bringing together many of our friends and other partner organisations to celebrate Poole’s wonderful wildlife on land and sea.
With activities for all ages, real wildlife, arts, crafts, eco-crabbing, bird watching, wildlife gardening, Forest schools and more, families had a chance to discover their next door nature and get involved. We had wonderful support from volunteers both before and during the event (special thanks to Linda Bunting for her invaluable help in planning the event) and on the day we were delighted to award a number of wildlife garden plaques and sign up new members for Dorset Wildlife Trust. We had so many children doing activities of all sorts that we even ran out of some materials and, as you can see from the pictures, the adults loved the activities too! It was great to see the partners in The Great Heath working together and everybody having fun at the same time. And didn’t Poole look beautiful? If you were there, thank you for coming!
