There is plenty to keep the kids occupied this half term holiday at Weymouth’s Lorton Meadows nature reserve. Dorset Wildlife Trust is running two fun family events, with activities for younger children, as well as games, art and craft.
Dorset Wildlife Trust’s Sam Dallimore said: “Learning through discovery is a good way to teach more about the wildlife that exists around us and how it copes with modern day living. Our ‘Caterpillar Kids’ events are a great way for kids to have fun and learn about the wildlife in their local area.”
Tracks & Signs
Have you ever wondered what has ambled through your garden and left some interesting tracks, or perhaps you saw some unusual prints in the snow? Come along on Wednesday 17th February to discover what sort of animals or birds have been passing by.
Nesting Birds
Why do birds make nests, and what do they make them from? Perhaps you can leave out some bits and pieces that would help make their nests comfortable and warm. All will be explained on Friday 19th February.
The Caterpillar Kids events are from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm at Lorton Meadows Visitor Centre, Lorton Lane, Upwey, Weymouth, DT3 5QH. The price for children is £1.50, and adults are free (no unaccompanied children).
For more information, please ring Sam at Lorton Meadows on 01305 816546.
