There is still time to catch the early bird prices for this year’s Walk for Wildlife. Dorset Wildlife Trust’s annual event on September 19th has a choice of 3 different length routes, taking in some of the best scenery in Britain (as chosen by Simon King for this year’s Springwatch), with early bird prices on bookings during August.
With spectacular views of the World Heritage Jurassic Coast, this year’s event is suitable for everybody, with routes ranging from 5.8 miles up to a challenging 24 miles. All the walks start and finish at the MGFT Animal Sanctuary in Church Knowle in Purbeck. Walkers are encouraged to raise sponsorship for Dorset’s wildlife and there is even a special sponsor form for dogs who love the countryside.
Fiona Sansom, Supporter Development Manager at Dorset Wildlife Trust, said: “Walk for Wildlife is a fantastic day out for all ages and it’s also a chance for walkers (and their dogs) to support this beautiful and diverse county by raising vital funds to protect it.”
The routes:
5.8 mile start by 1.30 pm. Including Swyre Head, Kimmeridge village, Stonehill Down and stunning views over Poole Harbour and the Jurassic Coast.
10 mile start before 12 noon. As for the 5.8 mile route, but including a spectacular stretch of the South-West Coast Path.
24 mile - start before 9am. Including Corfe Common, the Purbeck Way, Worth Matravers, The Priests Way and part of the South-West Coast Path.
