A network of leading solicitors across Dorset has partnered with Dorset Wildlife Trust (DWT) to offer a free Will writing service to its 25,000+ members throughout October 2015.
For those wishing to make a will or update an existing one, this is the ideal way to secure your future and help to secure the future of Dorset’s wildlife. DWT manages over 40 nature reserves across Dorset for the benefit of wildlife, and provides advice and education to people.
DWT relies on 25% of its work being funded through gifts in Wills
To enable important conservation work to continue, DWT relies on 25% of its work being funded through gifts in Wills. The free Will writing service was developed 3 years ago to raise awareness of how vital this type of fundraising is and what a significant part it plays conserving Dorset’s precious wildlife.
Battens, Humphries Kirk and Kitson and Trotman solicitors are taking part
DWT Fundraising Officer, Jodi Hibbard, says, “Dorset Wildlife Trust is delighted Battens, Humphries Kirk and Kitson and Trotman Solicitors have chosen us again this year for the Free Will Service. Donations through a gift in a Will play an ever increasing part in how we fund our nature reserves across Dorset, so that those that do decide to use the free Will writing service and leave a gift, no matter how large or small, can take great comfort in knowing their legacy will be helping Dorset’s wildlife for many years to come.”
"One of the most important things you can do for yourself and your family"
Tracy Scammell, Partner at Kitson and Trotman and DWT member, said, “Having a will is arguably one of the most important things you can do for yourself and your family. Not only can a Will legally protect your spouse, children, and assets; it can also spell out exactly how you would like matters handled after your death. However, many people put off making a will for a variety of reasons often the cost. This free Will offer is a chance to do the right thing, and to give yourself peace of mind that you have made the decision as to how your assets will be distributed on your death.”

Working for a secure future for Dorset’s wildlife enriching the quality of life
Dorset Wildlife Trust works to champion wildlife and natural places, to engage and inspire people and to promote sustainable living. Founded in 1961, DWT is now the largest voluntary nature conservation organisation in Dorset, with over 25,000 members and over 40 nature reserves. Most are open daily and there are visitor centres providing a wealth of wildlife information at Brooklands Farm, Lorton Meadows, Kingcombe Meadows and Brownsea Island Nature Reserves, The Purbeck Marine Wildlife Reserve and the Urban Wildlife Centre at Upton Heath Nature Reserve. DWT plays a key role in dealing with local environmental issues and leads the way in establishing the practices of sustainable development and engaging new audiences in conservation, particularly in the urban areas.
