Brownsea Island : The Start of the Adventure!

Sika Deer : Waiting to Meet You

How Can You Resist the Brownsea Island Red Squirrels? |
We are looking for brave women from across the county to take part in a fantastic upcoming event this September.
The event, named Hardy Women, will involve up to 25 intrepid women spending two whole nights out in the wild on Brownsea Island. There will be no creature comforts, no luxuries, just you and the open air. Entrants can expect to build their own shelters, find food, learn about the wildlife on the island as well as taking part in fun and challenging activities over the two days.
Participants will be staying on a deserted part of the island and will have to fend for themselves for the whole weekend of Friday 11th - Sunday 13th September 2009.
Kizzy Brown, our Marketing and Fundraising Manager is organising the event and will also be taking part says 'This is a great chance to learn about wildlife and also to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. With no men around it is a great chance for the women to show how capable we are of coping without the things we take for granted around us. No mobile phones, no make up and no hair straighteners. It's a challenge, but what an experience!'
To enter the event costs just £40 and this includes your boat passage and landing fee to the island along with all the fun that the weekend holds in store, along with having some guides on hand to ensure that all runs smoothly. Participants must be over sixteen.
It is a sponsored event and we hope that entrants will try to raise as much as they possibly can for us, though the minimum is £100.
Brownsea Island is situated in Poole Harbour and is home to some of the rarest creatures in the UK, including the mischievous red squirrel and sika deer. We manage one part of the island, owned by The National Trust, which is rich in woodland, lakes and wildlife. It is an inspiring place even to visit, yet by taking part in this event you will be the first to spend the night out on our part of the island. Funds raised from the event will go towards supporting this magnificent nature reserve.
Places are limited to 25 so please enter as soon as you can to avoid disappointment. Simply contact Kizzy Brown on 01305 264620 or email .
