Rivers and Wetlands Project

Dorset possesses a wealth of freshwater resources including habitats such as internationally important chalk streams with their characteristic water crowfoot plant community and grazing marshes, and endangered species such as otters, water voles, bullhead, southern mayfly, great-crested newt and white-clawed crayfish

> Creation of wetland habitat at Tadnoll nature reserve
> Purbeck Ponds Project

Project aims

Through working with landowners, community groups, anglers and volunteers the Rivers & Wetland Project aims to:

  • Promote and protect Rivers & Wetlands in Dorset
  • Create and enhance wetland habitat in Dorset
  • Deliver Biodiversity Action Plan Targets

We deliver our aims in three ways:

  1. Habitat work
  2. Species work
  3. Advisory, training & planning work
