Planners, developers, architects and builders all have a responsibility to consider and preserve the natural world. With the renovation of old properties and the creation of new ones, swifts have become an increasingly vulnerable species that need protection. Whether renovating old properties or creating new ones, swift provision can be done at low cost and relatively easily.

Awareness, advice & guidance

The main aims of this project are to raise awareness of the decline of swifts across the south west and provide advice and guidance on the incorporation of swift-friendly features to help conserve swifts in Dorset.

Send us your Swift records

This website also provides a sighting submission facility. Please send in your records of swifts across Dorset, whether a screaming party outside a public building or a roost site in your home. This will help us to build up a more accurate picture of swift populations and monitor any changes in numbers.
