Our Habitat Heroes
Our nature reserves provide an important habitat for nature. We regularly welcome groups of corporate volunteers onto our nature reserves, who come along to help with habitat maintenance and provide generous donations at the same time. So we want to say a huge thank you and Hurrah to our Habitat Heroes! Here’s who’s been involved:
Wessex Water have worked hard in the Gussage stream, keeping the channel clear and water flowing freely. There were some soggy socks – but happy faces too! You’ll have to trust me on that as sadly we have no pictures to share this time. Next time…
Barclays went back to Brownsea Island to help with the maintenance of the reed bed habitats for water voles and wintering snipe. They even sent an additional group to continue with the work on the Gussage Stream. They got loads done!

JP Morgan (and family!) went along to the ‘Pine Pull’ at Sopley Common. This was a day of spectacular achievement, helping to protect heathland habitats from pine infestation and shading over these rare habitats for Dorset’s reptiles and insects. It was great fun.
