Dorset Walk for Wildlife - Cancelled Pull on your walking boots and take up the challenge!Unfortunately this event has been cancelled - for information about refunds, please call us on 01305 264620. If you have wanted to explore the wildlife along Dorset's coastline, raise some money for DWT and burn off a few calories in the process, then DWT's 2017 Walk for Wildlife is for you! You don't need to be an expert, and this is a great introduction to getting outside and learning about nature. Each finisher will get a certificate of completion, and there will be refreshments at the end. It's self guided, but we'll give you a detailed route guide, telling you where to go and what wildlife to look out for during the walk. The walk will also be sign posted at key points to help you stay on track. This year we have three routes to choose from... A 6 mile route and a 13 mile route, both take in parts of the coastpath, plus a family friendly 2 mile route along tracks, for those less inclined to tackling the steep slopes of the coastpath. All three routes start and finish at the beautiful Leeson House Field Centre, Langton Matravers, Isle of Purbeck. Both of the longer routes will drop down to the coast path at Dancing Ledge, before heading west to Seacombe Valley. The 6 mile route then climbs up to Worth Matravers before returning to Leeson via the Priests Way. The 13 mile route continues West after Seacombe, past St Aldhems Head and onwards to Kingston before returning to the coastpath at Houns Tout. It then heads East to Worth and joins the 6 mile route back to Leeson House. The 2 mile family friendly route involves following main tracks and the Priests Way, before joining the other routes as they return to Leeson House. There is no requirement to pre-register for this route. Details are taken on the day. Please note that none of the routes are suitable for pushchairs.
