Dorset Wildlife Trust took the BBC Escape to The Country film crew around the Kingcombe Meadows Nature Reserve and showed Jules Hudson some hedge laying techniques...
Filmed last autumn, we are delighted to see the first episode of BBC's Escape to the Country, aired on Wednesday 8th November, featuring DWT's Kingcombe Meadows Nature Reserve, and our very own west Dorset Reserves Warden, Steve Masters.
Steve told Jules about the ancient hedgerows on the Kingcombe Meadows Nature Reserve, chatting about how we can actually date back hedgerows and also about how important they are for wildlife.
He then took Jules to have a go at some hedge laying on the nature reserve, where Jules did a great job continuing some work started by a DWT volunteer.
It was a pleasure to work with Jules and the production team, and despite the rainy day, Kingcombe Meadows looked fantastic with its autumnal colours and wildlife.
