New gifts added to DWT online shop for Mother's Day
Wednesday 15th March 2017
This Mother’s Day, Dorset Wildlife Trust (DWT) has teamed up with Dorset based suppliers Filberts, to offer its supporters some great gift ideas perfect for mums who love local produce and sustainable products.
Grown from three generations of British farmers, Filberts, who specialise in functional and sustainable beeswax products, have been providing products for the DWT online shop for three years. The new products added for Mother’s Day include: Hand Care Carry box (£12); Revive aromatherapy gift box (£9.99) and a Lino print greetings candle card (£4.60). Customers who spend over £10 on Filberts products will also receive a free phacelia seed packet.
Sustainable products made locally
DWT retail and fundraising manager, Fiona Samson said, “DWT is really pleased to be able to include some new products in the online shop for Mother’s Day. We share Filberts’ attitudes and values in that we love sustainable products made locally, and all the profits we make from these products go towards conservation work in Dorset. If you’re looking for something a bit different this Mother’s Day, we think we have the perfect solution!”
"By choosing to buy Filberts, you're choosing to invest in British bees"
Tessa from Filberts, said “All of our balms and salves are made by hand here in Dorset. We start by gently heating and filtering blocks of beeswax as they come in from the field, ensuring there’s a little bit of Dorset in every recipe. Although we also produce honey, the climate and other factors make for unreliable honey yields. But bees always produce wax, whatever the weather. That’s why our balms and salves are so important, as they make the business sustainable and support bees through difficult seasons. By choosing to buy Filberts, you’re choosing to invest in British bees. This make working with Dorset Wildlife Trust a good fit for us.”
Other gifts also available
The new gifts from Filberts in the DWT online shop are all hand-made in West Dorset, and join a selection of other products from Filberts and other suppliers including the ‘From you to Me’ journals of a lifetime – a great way to record and treasure memories between a mother and their child.
Other gifts on the website include Filberts hand salves, candle making kits and a hand care travel kit. For the creative mums, try the Hawthorne Handmade needle felting kits, or to help with relaxation, there’s the Beefayre scented candles. Working for a secure future for Dorset’s wildlife enriching the quality of life
Dorset Wildlife Trust works to champion wildlife and natural places, to engage and inspire people and to promote sustainable living. Founded in 1961, DWT is now the largest voluntary nature conservation organisation in Dorset, with over 26,500 members and over 40 nature reserves. Most are open daily and there are visitor centres providing a wealth of wildlife information at Brooklands Farm, Lorton Meadows, Kingcombe Meadows and Brownsea Island Nature Reserves, The Purbeck Marine Wildlife Reserve and the Urban Wildlife Centre at Upton Heath Nature Reserve. DWT plays a key role in dealing with local environmental issues and leads the way in establishing the practices of sustainable development and engaging new audiences in conservation, particularly in the urban areas.
