About the Partnership

Bluebells and oak trees by MARK HEIGHES

The Partnership is a group of organisations who share a common aim: to reverse the decline of biodiversity in Dorset.

Together, these organisations have identified Dorset’s most important habitats & what needs to be done to conserve these habitats. This is captured in the Dorset Biodiversity Strategy.

Our Work

Dock Bug by Ken Dolbear

The Partnership has achieved many positive outcomes for biodiversity, including action for wetlands (improving the quality and diversity of river beds), action for species (new nesting habitat for ospreys has been created) and action for grassland habitats (restoration of Dorset’s rich grasslands).

Dorset Biodiversity Strategy

Wildlife Matters Blog

The Dorset Biodiversity Strategy is a vision for the future for the wildlife of Dorset and provides a mechanism for all of us to make our commitment to conservation.

It outlines action for biodiversity across the wide variety of habitats in the county, from restoring species rich grasslands to raising awareness of biodiversity issues.

The Dorset Biodiversity Audit is produced by the Dorset Environmental Records Centre (DERC). It contains a wealth of information on the species and habitats of Dorset and is an essential backdrop to the Strategy.

The recently revised Audit (2010) includes each District and Unitary Local Authority, a brief audit of its wildlife resource, a listing of Strategic Nature Areas, together with the area of Priority Habitats and details of designated sites.
