Amanda Broom is the staff representative for the Bournemouth and Christchurch Members Group, so who better than her to write a few words about Brian Weeks as he hands over as Chair.
Masters in Biodiversity Conservation
It’s a farewell to Brian Weeks, as he stands down as the Chairman of the Bournemouth and Christchurch local group. Brian has been on the committee for over 10 years, with a great deal of the time as Chairman. (He regrettably could not multitask by being Chairman and completing a Masters in Biodiversity Conservation at Bournemouth University at the same time!)
During his volunteering years Brian has sat on the DWT Members Panel, represented us at Druitt Gardens and the high Quality Environment Group in Christchurch, and in Bournemouth he has made a great contribution to the Open Space and Wildlife Survey.
A significant contribution to DWT and Conservation
In addition, his expertise and passion for butterflies has been shared with countless local people as he has given enlightening, and often humorous, talks and walks on the subject. Brian has also helped out at many events, helping with sales stalls and fielding no end of wildlife questions from the public. Tony Bates, DWT Chairman commented that “Brian has made a significant contribution to DWT in the east of county.”
We are enormously grateful to Brian for all his support and help over the years and although we wish him all the best for the future we trust that he may still volunteer for DWT, so long as there is an offer of lunch! Thank you Brian, from all of us at DWT. |
