You too can be a wildlife expert, with a new series of free workshops this spring and summer. Dorset Wildlife Trust is offering a range of identification masterclasses for volunteers who would like to have a go at recording wildlife. Learn from the experts how to tell the difference between roe and Sika deer, get to know heathland wildlife or learn about Dorset’s fabulous orchids with the spring and summer workshops across the county, starting on 8th April.
Volunteers are very valuable
Volunteering Programme Manager, Steve Davis, said: “The spring and summer months are traditionally the time for monitoring the status of our wildlife and records from volunteers are very valuable. The workshops are free and all we ask is that the new found identification skills are put to good use by sending us species records - enabling us and the Dorset Environmental Records Centre to gather vital information on the status of our local wildlife.”
Workshops currently on offer include:
British Deer on 8th April 6.30 pm at the Urban Wildlife Centre, Corfe Mullen
Grasses on 27th May 10 am at Kingcombe Meadows
Orchids on 19th June 10 am at Fontmell Down
Heathland species on 2nd July 10 am at Higher Hyde Heath, near Wool
Bees and Wasps on 18th July 10.30 am at the Urban Wildlife Centre, Corfe Mullen
