How do I get started?

What can I do?

There are lots of different opportunities to volunteer with us, it's just a matter of choosing which ones you want to try. The main ones are:

Meet the volunteering team

Our aim is to ensure that if you would like to become a volunteer you have access to a wide range of opportunities that are suitable for all ages, abilities and interests. We have four regional teams throughout Dorset.  Each team has a designated co-ordinator for volunteering opportunities within their region.

The Great Heath

Be part of The Great Heath, an exciting partnership project to create an urban living landscape in south-east Dorset.

Register as a Volunteer

Let us know if you would like to become a volunteer on our Volunteers Registration Form.  We will then get in touch to welcome you.  Don't worry there's no obligation to get stuck in straight away!

Volunteering Events



Join the Great Heath team and get involved with practical conservation tasks on a number of different reserves and habitats.

Working on a DWT nature reserve near you.


A mix of practical tasks and survey work, there will be something to meet everybody's needs.

Join the regular volunteering group in West Dorset. CANCELLED

Join us for practical conservation work. Booking is essential. Please book a place by the morning of Wednesday 18 th January.


Join the regular volunteering group on Brownsea  island on alternate Sundays throughout the year.
