Boats tied up to the marker buoys

Good weather in May and June has resulted in several very busy weekends at Studland.

Photographs show boats both anchored within the voluntary no-anchor zone and tied up to the marker buoys.

Unfortunately this serves to disguise the zone and make it very difficult for arriving boats to see exactly where it is.

The marker buoys are not designed for mooring and may be accidentally moved as a consequence.

There are now plans to mark the zone more clearly and it is hoped that boaters will avoid anchoring within it and enable a scientific survey to be carried out.
