Experienced farm advisors can provide free advice on:
- Grazing levels and breed selection
- Weed control and
scrub management
- Creation of wild-flower rich grasslands
- Assistance with Environmental Stewardship applications and existing agreements

Capital Funding
There is also a Capital Fund which can support works to help manage and enhance grasslands in target areas.
Capital projects that can be funded are:
- Scrub management
Weed wiping
- Fencing to re-introduce grazing
- Seed harvesting
- Recreation of species rich grassland

Community groups in our target areas can get advice on managing land for wildlife.
The Pastures New team can also give talks and guided walks on management for wildlife.

Dorset Wildlife Trust have a database of landowners in Dorset and over the years have helped landowners find additional stock and vice versa.

Wildflower Meadow Creation
|
Farm Advisors will give grassland management advice for meadow enhancement and, where suitable, can co-ordinate a program of restoration techniques, including; green hay and wildflower harvesting and spreading.

Volunteers
|

Volunteers are vital to the project and are a great help "on farm" for tasks such as scrub clearance. If you want to volunteer to help restore Dorset's grasslands please register here.

Business Advice
|

|
Pastures New can fund some business advice on farm. We commission Agricultural Business Consultants to carry this out on behalf of the Pastures New project.
Business advice will only be funded if there is a potential wildlife gain from a change in farming practice.
