Thank you for your support!
Here are just some of the things you have helped us achieve in the last year:
- A large area of Upton Heath was devastated by fire in June 2011 at the peak of the bird and reptile breeding season. We are now planning the long-term restoration of this internationally important wildlife site.
- Our Purbeck Important Ponds project compiled an inventory of 1,000 countryside ponds and restored or created 44 ponds. Surveys revealed numerous rare aquatic species and many ponds are now better managed as a result.
- We organised a pioneering landscape-scale Higher Level Stewardship agreement covering 11 farms in the Beaminster area.
- The data gathered from our seabed-mapping project (DORIS) influenced the design of the county's first proposed Marine Conservation Zones. We are hopeful these will be established in the near future.
