Your Seas Your Voice

 5th Mar 2010

Your Seas Your VoiceThe Marine Conservation Society and Bournemouth Oceanarium are encouraging people to vote for Studland seagrass meadows to become a Marine Conservation Zone. So far over 600 votes have been received for Studland, over one fifth of the total number of votes received for all the sites put forward via their 'Your Seas Your Voice' website.

Public perception may be one important factor in deciding where the final network of Marine Conservation Zones are placed. However, the process of identifying a network of Marine Conservation Zones is being led by Finding Sanctuary in the Southwest, and is an evidence based approach. Finding Sanctuary will aim to minimise socio-economic impacts whilst finding the best examples of our marine environment on a national scale. Anyone wanting to feed into the Finding Sanctuary process can find information and contacts on their website http://www.finding-sanctuary.org/.
