This year we've organised three routes to suit all levels and ages of walker; a 5.8, 10 and 24 mile route. They all start and finish at the MGFT Animal Sanctuary at Church Knowle, and each one includes stunning views of the Purbeck coastline and countryside.

Which Route Will You Choose?

5.8 mile route look out for Stonechat (Alan Hayden Christchurch Harbour Ornithological Group)

5.8 mile : Please start before 1.30 pm

A walk up to Swyre Head then along the ridge to the top of Kimmeridge village, before heading inland to Stonehill Down with its stunning views over Poole Harbour then dropping back down into Church Knowle.

Wildlife to Look out for: Stonechat, Yellowhammer

10 mile route look out for Brown hares

10 mile : Please start before 12 noon

As for the 5.8 mile route, but dropping down to Rope Lake Head from Swyre Head, then following the beautiful coast path to Kimmeridge. It’s then uphill to join up again with the 5.8 mile route towards Stonehill Down and onwards.

Wildlife to look out for: Peregrine falcon, Brown hare

On the 24 mile route look out for Wheatear

24 mile : Please start before 9 am

Heading East to Corfe Common and then taking the Purbeck Way to the first checkpoint at Worth Matravers. From there it’s a steady walk along the Priests Way to Spyway Barn then dropping down to join the coastpath ­linking up with the 10 mile route at Rope Lake Head.

Wildlife to look out for: Dolphins, Wheatear
