The Young Person’s Art Competition, to find the best work depicting ‘biodiversity in Dorset’, is sponsored by Dorset Wildlife Trust and the Dorset Arts and Crafts Association. The winning entries will go on display at Dorset Arts and Crafts Association’s major exhibition to celebrate the International Year of Biodiversity 2010.

The art can be in any medium in 2D or 3D format, no larger than an A4 size, ranging from painting, collage, needlework, photography and sculpture in clay, wood or other material; the competition is open to anyone from age 5 to 18. Entry forms must be in by Monday 26th July and items delivered to Bovington School between 10.00am and 5pm on Monday 2nd August where they will be judged on Tuesday 3rd August.

Great opportunity for young artists

Dorset Wildlife Trust’s People & Wildlife Coordinator, Joy Wallis, says: “This is a great chance for budding young artists to express their talent in any media and format they want, with the thought that their work, if selected for display, will be highly regarded and possibly be eligible for a coveted trophy or a certificate; awards will be presented by The President of the DACA on Sunday 10th August.”

The Dorset Arts & Crafts Annual Exhibition is at Bovington Middle School near Wool from 6th to 10th August.
