The annual Volunteer Centre Dorset awards evening on 28th October saw a number of Dorset Wildlife Trust volunteers receiving certificates. The awards evening, held at the Dorford Centre in Dorchester, recognised volunteers from a wide range of voluntary organisations and charities.
Dorset Wildlife Trust volunteers recognised in the Volunteer of the Year section were Alison Jay and Myra Sealey. Alison was unable to attend, but Myra was delighted to recieve her certificate, presented by the Mayor of Dorchester. Myra runs the very succesful Charmouth Watch Group, which continues to go from strength to strength under her leadership and enthusiasm. She is also heavily involved in the West Dorset group committee.
The Pastures New volunteers were also recognised, in the Volunteer Group of the Year section. Being a busy bunch though, they were also unable to attend - having already spent the day volunteering on yet another grassland site in West Dorset! It was left to Steve Davis, Volunteering Programme Manager to graciously accept the certificate on their behalf, which will no doubt be adorning the wall of the Pastures New Office in the near future - after we've managed to get them together for a photocall! |
