Seasonal Engagement Assistant

Salary:  £18090 p.a. plus 5% employer pension

Dorset Wildlife Trusts is seeking to fill a 6 month seasonal Engagement Assistant posiition, working out of our Urban Wildlife Centre on the outskirts of Poole, and supporting the wider team on Brownsea Island and the Purbecks.

The East Dorset Living Landscapes and Seas programme aims to develop landscapes and seas, rich in wildlife and highly valued, enjoyed and nurtured by people across The Great Heath and Purbeck.  The postholder will help deliver the East Team’s outreach public engagement activities, including assisting with/leading events, giving talks and preparing and delivering wildlife themed activities. In particular the post will assist with engaging visitors to Dorset Wildlife Trust’s nature reserve and ‘Villa Wildlife Centre’ on Brownsea Island and to the  Fine Foundation Centre at Kimmeridge. 

This will include supporting/overseeing day-to-day activities, supervising volunteers, providing information and activities for visitors, and leading formal educational activities for schools.  The postholder will also act as duty manager for the Centres in the absence of other DWT staff, as required.
