How we are funded

How we raise funds for our work

Dorset Wildlife Trust is an independent charity.  Our members and donors, who want to protect wildlife and wild places and bring people closer to nature, provide most of the funds we spend.  We are grateful to every one of you for supporting Dorset Wildlife Trust. Thank you.

To help us make an even bigger impact, we also receive funding from grants and corporate partners, and some of our conservation work also provides an income.

Grant funding

Grants are usually awarded for specific projects. Some of our main sources of support include: the players of The National Lottery through The Heritage Lottery Fund and The Big Lottery Fund.

Where we spend our money

Our funds are spent on conservation work in Dorset.  By supporting Dorset Wildlife Trust, you really are helping to support the county's wildlife and wild places.

- 32% living landscapes and living seas
- 28% nature reserve management
- 14% non-membership raising funds
- 13% police, advocacy and evidence
- 13% membership recruiting and servicing

A thank you to our supporters

Our supporters are at the heart of what we do. You make our work possible – from protecting threatened wildlife like bats, dormice and bees to saving some of Dorset’s last wild places and inspiring the next generation of children to love nature.

Every donation we receive makes a difference. Thank you.
