Wild Weekend: Kingcombe's Tremendous Trees
Kingcombe Visitor Centre ,
Kingcombe Visitor Centre, Lower Kingcombe, Toller Porcorum,, Dorchester , Dorset, DT2 0EQ About the event
The Wildlife Trusts 30 Days Wild annual challenge encourages people to do one wild thing every day throughout June. Join us for a series of events across our Wild Weekend at Kingcombe, including a walk on the reserve to learn more about Kingcombe's trees.
Explore Kingcombe Meadows which is teeming with wildlife. The nature reserve is managed as a working farm, grazed by cows, sheep and Exmoor ponies, without the use of modern agricultural practices. The result is a patchwork of fields of unimproved flower-rich grassland, broken up by thick hedges, streams, ponds, ancient green lanes and wooded areas spreading up the valley either side of the River Hooke. This mosaic of habitats supports a wide range of wildlife. We expect the session to last approximately 1 hour 30 minutes, including a walk on the reserve with time for regular stopping. This event is suitable for adults, children, and families. Please be aware that there may be areas of uneven, steep, and muddy ground - please wear appropriate footwear. We will meet at the Kingcombe Centre at 2:00pm. Parking is available on site. This event is free to attend, but donations are welcomed.
