Assistant Wilder Communities Officer

Closing date:
Salary: £23,768
Contract type: Fixed term / Working hours: Part time
Location: DWT Urban Wildlife Centre , Beacon Hill Lane, Off Old Wareham Road, Corfe Mullen , Poole , Dorset , BH21 3RX
Dorset Wildlife Trust has an exciting opportunity for someone with a keen interest in mobilising and facilitating community action for nature.
By 2030 we want to see at least 30% of our land and sea connected and protected for nature’s recovery, and we cannot do this on our own. Our aim is to see at least 1 in 4 people taking visible action for wildlife over the next decade, and benefitting themselves from that connection - enough to win the hearts and minds of the majority and create the momentum for change.

Are you a person who can inspire people, putting together engaging resources and opportunities for people to learn about and experience the natural world, and turn that interest into action?

Are you someone who values working with volunteers, who could develop a network of Dorset Wildlife Trust volunteer community champions able to support others to make changes in their local areas?

Do you have a passion for wildlife gardening, citizen science and campaigning, and are you able to convey information to a wide range of people and help people feel part of the bigger picture?

If so, is this the job for you? Now is the time to join a small, friendly and vibrant team on a mission to drive forward a new approach to community involvement in Dorset, as part of a new national approach, working with colleagues across all wildlife trusts.

This post is offered as a two year fixed term post of 21 hours (3 days) per week.
