About the event

Join us on this family event at Lorton Meadows nature reserve for a morning dedicated to the fascinating world of pond life. We supply the nets, trays, and charts, you supply the kids. In small groups they will explore the underwater world of newts, water boatmen and diving beetles at our ever popular pond dipping sessions. The staff and volunteers will help you identify the bugs, beetles and other wildlife that are found.

Please book a ticket for all members of your party. This event is suitable for families with children from 4 to 15 yrs old. All children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

What to bring

Bring what you will need (hats, coats, drinking water etc) and wear clothing appropriate to weather on the day.

Please be aware that the pond dipping platform can become wet, slippery and muddy so wear old clothing, wellingtons and footwear with grip etc.

Parking information

Access to Lorton Meadow events is via Lorton Lane, approximately 0.5 miles to the Conservation Centre and car park. Please be aware of pedestrians and cyclists and keep to the 10 mph speed limit. Thank you.
