A Walk With Nature 2021

A Walk With Nature 2021

Be our guest

To thank you in person for your ongoing support, we would be delighted if you could join us for A Walk with Nature: a guided walk around one of our reserves. You will be joined by our wildlife experts who will share with you their wealth of knowledge. You’ll gain a unique insight into the habitats that your support is helping to conserve. There will be time on each walk to ask our experts questions, and you will meet other like-minded individuals who share your passion for Dorset’s nature and wildlife.

Please note: Although these walks are a wonderful way to meet other members with similar interests, we are happy for you to bring one guest.

Take a guided walk through the wildflower meadows, celebrating the diversity of flora found here. This nature reserve is managed as a working farm, grazed by cows and sheep, without the use of pesticides, artificial fertilisers and other modern agricultural practices. Learn about how the livestock at Kingcombe Meadows are integral to the maintenance of this important reserve. Includes afternoon tea at the end of the walk.

‘Meadow Walk’ – Hogchester Farm, Charmouth

This walk is now full but we are operating a waiting list in the event of cancellations. If you would like to add your name to the waiting list, please let us know.

In 2015, Dorset Wildlife Trust helped to re-seed ten acres of wildflower meadow at Hogchester Farm, overlooking the sea near Charmouth. Yellow rattle, knapweed, ox-eye daisy and cat’s-ear, among many others, have taken well. Wander through the meadows and hear about the genesis of this ambitious project before ending the walk with a free ice cream on the hill.

Come and explore the secret, but far from silent, nocturnal world of bats. As well as seeing bats on the wing, we hope to be able to watch them emerge from their roost, right overhead! Includes tea and cake at the start of the walk.
