About the event

Join licensed ringer, Seb Elwood, and other members of Stour Ringing Group during this exciting bird ringing demonstration at Wild Woodbury.

Bird ringing is an exciting scientific study which allows us to learn lots about birds, including their breeding status, age, and sex. It also provides an opportunity to have a close-up view of birds and take in the details of their beautiful feathers.

At Wild Woodbury, many species have been ringed, including more common birds such as blue tit and blackbird, as well as rarer species such as nightingale and ring ouzel.

We will be meeting at the Wild Woodbury car park (what 3 words location: ///polishing.succumbs.towers) at 6:15 am before walking to the ringing ride while listening to the dawn chorus. The walk will take approximately half an hour, and there will be uneven terrain.

Please note that this event is subject to appropriate weather conditions needed for bird ringing. You will be contacted the day before to confirm if the event is going ahead or cancelled.

The hosts of this event are fully trained under the BTO's ringing scheme. The welfare of the birds is priority, flash photography is not permitted.
