Why we need your help

We need to raise £45,000 to ensure Kingcombe Meadows nature reserve and the inspirational Kingcombe Centre continue to thrive in the future.

The 180-hectare site requires the upkeep of considerable infrastructure to maintain an effective grazing programme for the extensive wildlife-rich grasslands.

We also want to establish Kingcombe (the reserve and centre) as the gateway to accessing the west Dorset countryside.

How your donation will be spent

Managing the nature reserve:

  • Replacing several kilometres of fencing, which is key to providing flexibility and control of grazing.
  • Digging out ditch system that are waterlogged and overgrown with rushes.
  • Replacing several field gates and water troughs.
  • replacing some farming machinery and a vehicle.
  • Re-laying a number of hedges.

Improvement to the visitor experience and expansion of our education offer to the public:

  • Improving the access, interpretation information and way-marking trails for public benefit.
  • Building an innovative outdoor educational space and new boardwalk down to the River Hooke. This multi-purpose facility will help boost our educational activities, whilst also being great for wildlife viewing, simply relaxing or dining al fresco
  • Making a new wildlife exploration zone for families.

We are applying to a number of grant funders to help meet these costs. Your donation will be used as the required match funding from Dorset Wildlife Trust. So for every pound given up to nine pounds more may be released.

Your donation can make a real difference

With your help we can ensure that Kingcombe remains a remarkable wildlife site and centre for natural history engagement, for all to enjoy today and for generations to come.

  • £15 will replace a waymarked post
  • £25 will buy 10m of essential fencing
  • £40 will release up to £360 in grant funding
  • £125 will fund a new field gate
  • £1000 will be a major contribution towards creating a new wildlife exploration zone for families

A donation receipt will be sent to you by email once your donation has been processed, and we can guarantee that 100% of your gift will go directly towards our work at Kingcombe.

Thank you!
