Guided Wildflower Walk at Chesil
The Fine Foundation Wild Chesil Centre,
The Fine Foundation Wild Chesil Centre, Portland, Dorset, DT4 9XEEvent details
About the event
Chesil and the Fleet support a rich and varied community of wildflowers and plants. The constantly shifting pebbles, salty sea air and strong winds can make it tough to survive. However, a number of plants are able to thrive in this harsh environment. Join local experts, Simon and Annie Pugh-Jones, for a guided walk at Chesil to discover some of the fascinating plants and wildflowers that are found on the reserve, from wild vegetables to sea pinks. Learn how to identify different species and find out how these plants have adapted to survive the tough conditions.
Let's see if we can spot at least 50 different species and we'll keep a look out for some real rarities along the way, such as the four-leaved allseed, which is only found in a handful of sites around the UK.
Suitable for most levels from complete beginners to those with some knowledge and experience.
