About the event
Adam is nationally renowned greenwood worker living in West Dorset, running greenwood carving courses across the UK. We are excited to offer this new 2.5-hour workshop, where you’ll design and make your own wooden spatula to last. During the session, you will discover how to safely use the axe and knife, what to look for when selecting wood, the basics of utensil design, and how to carve with confidence-developing a passion for this heritage craft while connecting with the natural world.
Your spatula will be made from locally sourced greenwood, and you will create a unique piece using the simple hand tools provided. It will then be oiled and burnished to seal in the natural beauty of the grain.
After spending ten years swinging from trees as an arborist, Adam decided he needed a job that kept both feet firmly on the ground while still allowing him to remain rooted in the woodland around him. Having previously studied engineering, woodworking felt like a natural step, and working with the natural inclination of green wood soon became a true passion.
