Wild about The Great Heath! Sunday 23rd April 10am to 4pm
Join Dorset Wildlife Trust and partners for a free family wildlife fun day and celebrate the great English wildlife of The Great Heath on St George’s Day!
Dazzling dragons and damsels that fly can be found in The Great Heath and here in the park. They haven’t changed since the time of the dinosaurs!
Activities for all ages, get up close to real wildlife, get your face painted, discover the history and dragons of our heaths, have a go at arts, crafts and more at beautiful Upton Country Park, Poole BH17 7BJ.
Here be dragons! The Great Heath is home to some very dragon-like reptiles but the rare sand lizard won’t hurt you so our knights of the heath protect them instead!
Join us for owls, moths, wildlife gardening, art, Crafty Dragon’s Den, face painting, traditional woodcraft demos and lots more! This is a day for everyone, so bring the whole family.
Have fun with wildlife themed face (or arm) painting, drawing with artist Julie Herring and wild, wild crafts.
To celebrate St George’s Day and our amazing heathland dragons, there will be a prize for the best-dressed knight, dragon or damsel!
Discover traditional woodcrafts, such as these witches’ brooms (besoms), made by Terry Heard using birch from the heaths, and watch whittling and spoon carving by Craig Sellwood.
For more information call 01202 692033 or email . FREE reptile ID chart for new members signing up with Dorset Wildlife Trust on the day!
