An Introduction to Bats (Kingcombe Centre Course)

Would you like to begin the journey into the cryptic world of bats? Aimed at the beginner/novice who wants to start their learning on the subject, this workshop will introduce you to the world of bats and their ecology, including an evening session bat watching (weather permitting) and dinner.
This one-day course will cover a variety of aspects of bat ecology and life history, tickling the tastes buds for further investigation. The basics of bat ecology will be covered, including anatomy, flight, life cycle and echolocation. We will consider this in the context of the 18 species of UK bat, their habitat use and conservation. There will be potential to see some bats in nearby bat boxes and (weather permitting) to watch roost emergence in the evening.
£65 pp includes all tuition, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner.
Arrive from 9.45 am for morning tea. The course will start at 10.00am and finish later in the evening.
What to bring:
Weatherproof clothing; walking boots or wellingtons will be needed. Cameras, notebooks and pencils would also be useful.
