Great HeathWatch is an initiative to enable volunteers to help us in protecting the Heathland reserves.
The Great Heath sites include Ferndown Common, Parley Common, Dunyeat's Hill, Lytchett Bay, Corfe Hills, Rushcombe and Upton Heath. Canford Heath, Alder Hills, Ham Common, Bourne Valley, Talbot Heath and Sopley Common.
Great HeathWatch is a simple yet effective way for us all to be able to work together in providing a high degree of protection for the Heath. Anyone can take part, and there are no set times to stick to. All we ask is that you keep your eyes and ears open for anything untoward whilst you are out on the site. You could be walking the dog, out for a run or a walk, maybe doing a bit of wildlife watching. It really doesn't matter - as long as you have at the back of your mind - 'is there anything going on that shouldn't be?'
We advise people don't confront anti-social behaviour, so if you do see something please just report it - either to us on 01202 692033 or 01305 264620 or if required, to Crimestoppers on 101 or 01202 222222
We now have wallet sized cards with all the relevant information.
Of course, you don't have to be part of Great HeathWatch to be able to report such activities - but we would like to hold regular updates for HeathWatch volunteers, hence our wish for you to register.
Volunteers also receive an e-bulletin every month containing general news from the heath, activities we are running for Great HeathWatch and opportunites to get involved in other general events going on from the centre.
