Dorset Wildlife Trust are happy to announce the opportunity of 2 Dorset based traineeships.
These are 10-month traineeships, undertaking a programme of practical conservation across our nature reserves. One traineeship will be based at our Brooklands Farm HQ, the other based at the Urban Wildlife Centre near Corfe Mullen.
Please note that accommodation is not provided for either of the traineeships.
Working alongside our experienced Reserves team with designated mentors in East and South Dorset, the traineeships offer practical experience working in the conservation sector. This includes a comprehensive training package including vocational qualifications in chainsaw, first aid and many more. At the end of 10 months, trainees are experienced in a wide range of practical management techniques, volunteer management and wildlife surveys.
Commencing in October 2025 our traineeships are an amazing opportunity for people wishing to pursue a career in environmental conservation. Our traineeships have an excellent record of helping people into their first job in this sector.
These traineeships are funded by the NRS socio-economic scheme, for which we are extremely grateful. The NRS socio-economic scheme provides funding to support activities that benefit the social or economic life of communities close to NRS facilities, and to meet the funding requirements the applicants must be residents of Dorset.
Each traineeship is a 10-month programme of 4 days per week, normally Monday – Thursday, although there will be some requirement for weekend availability.
Closing date for applications: 03 August 2025
Interview/selection day will be held at our Brooklands Farm HQ, near Dorchester in the week commencing 18 August 2025
