Business leaders, conservationists and partners gathered at Poole Museum for Dorset Wildlife Trust’s flagship event, 'Sustainability in action: A Dorset Businesss & Nature Collaboration', to explore how nature-based solutions can support economic resilience and wellbeing across the region.
The event, hosted in partnership with Dorset Chamber, brought together organisations including Wessex Ground Services, RMYC Sandbanks and partners from South West Water and Bournemouth University to share how working with Dorset Wildlife Trust has helped them embed sustainability into their operations and culture. Delegates were welcomed into the museum’s historic setting, where they heard how partnerships with the Trust are creating lasting impact—from sponsoring nature reserves to hosting corporate wellness days.
From Poole, guests travelled by boat to Brownsea Island to visit The Fine Foundation Lookout which was opened earlier this year. Speakers shared stories of long-standing support for Dorset Wildlife Trust, including Vitacress’s 20-year partnership and how Wessex Ground Services have sponsored Wild Woodbury nature reserve.
Brownsea Ranger Nicki Tutton described how time in nature boosts team wellbeing and fosters a deeper connection to the environment. Nicki introduced Dorset Wildlife Trust's brand new Wellness in the Wild initiative - a chance for businesses to take a break from their desks, recharge and reconnect though a facilitated day in nature on Brownsea Island. B Corp advocate Nick Whitnell spoke about the growing movement of purpose-driven companies seeking authentic partnerships with charities like Dorset Wildlife Trust.
The day concluded with a guided walk around the area of Brownsea Island that Dorset Wildlife Trust manages offering delegates a chance to reflect and connect.
