National Marine Week 2025
What is National Marine Week?
National Marine Week is our celebration of UK seas! From 26 July - 10 August 2025 we'll be showcasing the 'Secrets of our Seabeds' alongside Wildlife Trusts around the UK, Alderney and Isle of Man.
We'll be holding loads of fun events at the Wild Chesil Centre and the Wild Seas Centre at Kimmeridge as well as diving into Dorset's spectacular marine world on social media to inspire those of you who can't get to the coast. We have so many incredible marine habitats on the Dorset coast - from seagrass beds to internationally important chalk reefs, to muds full of life! There are so many beautiful underwater worlds to discover.
Help marine wildlife at risk
National Marine Week is the perfect time to stand up for our underwater wildlife at risk. If you watched David Attenborough's Ocean, you'll have seen the devastation that bottom trawling wreaks on the seabed. Did you know that bottom trawling is still allowed in many Marine Protected Areas? We want this to stop. We're calling for bottom trawling to be banned in seabed Marine Protected Areas, and we need your help.
